Our History

What is now a legacy, began only as “four walls and not much merchandise to sell”. Nat Bubar kicked off his jewelry career working nowhere better than the jewelry hub itself on Broadway in downtown Los Angeles. Bubar’s profound love for the jewelry industry led to the opening of his first store on the Santa Monica Boulevard in 1945. Here, Nat cleverly stocked small appliances next to the watches to attract the business; little did he know there would be no problem there! During this time, customers would often pour in from the railroads and bus companies for watch inspections. As history played out, Bubar’s only continued to transform and grow into the legacy it is today. Nat proudly felt he had “created an institution through effort and hard work”. Fun Facts:
While the traditional railroads are long gone from the Santa Monica Area, the need for a good watch inspection and a friendly smile still remain as Bubar’s serves to fill the jewelry needs for all the Santa Monica residents and vistors afar. |
